Black Button and Rohrbach

Black Button and Rohrbach

Factoids

  • Production of spirits, absent from Rochester since before Prohibition, is back in the form of Black Button Distilling.

  • Built in 1906 for the Bantleon Brothers’ millwork door company, this building has housed a telephone warehouse, an auto parts company, and a flea market.

  • Black Button takes its name from the owner’s family button company. A colorblind child, he thought the buttons were all black.

  • Since its construction, 97 Railroad Street has been repossessed 5 times. Black Button hopes there won’t be a sixth.
